- Town Hall is closed for repairs until further notice. Due to flood damage and ongoing remediation to Damascus Town Hall, town staff are displaced. Town Hall has temporarily relocated to the Damascus Motor Sales building, 786 North Beaver Dam Avenue. Open to the public on weekdays 10am to 3pm, closed on Wednesdays. Town Council meetings will be relocated temporarily to the Rock School Auditorium.
- 2024 second half real estate and 2024 personal property tax tickets were mailed in early December. The payment deadline has been extended until Jan. 15, 2025.
- Washington County Business Challenge: "Damascus Strong" has joined as a sponsor and will be awarding two $5,000 prizes to two new start-up businesses that locate in the Town of Damascus, in addition to the existing awards. The deadline for the Business Challenge is coming up soon - apply by January 14. More info and apply online.
- Invitation to Bid: Town Hall Renovation: The Town of Damascus, VA is accepting bids from qualified firms for the repair and renovation of the Damascus Town Hall. Qualified contractors must perform interior restorations to the Damascus Town Hall, Fire Station, and Laurel Creek Bathrooms related to the damage incurred by Hurricane Helene. More information.
- Notice of Hazard Tree Removals: The Town has contracted with Lundy's Tree Service for the removal of hazard trees in town parks and rights-of-way. Tree removals are expected to be completed by the end of January. Please respect any temporary road or trail closures and barricades.
- Please do not dump household waste in the public trash cans along Laurel Avenue or at town parks. Washington County provides Manned Solid Waste Convenience Stations nearby on Drowning Ford Rd (Damascus MCS) and Liberty Hall Rd (Lodi MCS). More info and MCS hours at washcova.com.
- Notice of Tread Repair on the Virginia Creeper Trail: Damascus Public Works will be performing storm-related tread repairs between the Damascus Town Park and Blossom Road in December and January. Be on the lookout for work crews on trail and expect the possibility of short delays. The trail will remain open to thru-traffic.
- NEW! The Virginia Creeper Trail from Abingdon to Damascus is now open to E-Bikes as well, as of December 2024.

The Damascus Planning Commission will meet on the following dates, times, and locations for the purpose of collecting information, studying, and generally discussing the topic of “short term rentals” or “transient lodging” regulations as directed by the Damascus Town Council. No action will be taken as part of the work sessions.
Please be advised, three or more members of the Damascus Town Council may be present at any of the following meetings for the purpose of listening in and/or participating in work sessions.
The Commission shall hold any public hearings as are required by law, as well as on any matter which it deems to be in the public interest. The purpose, time, and place of such public hearings shall be at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers of the Town Hall, unless otherwise posted.

NOTICE: Painting/staining work at parks - August 2024
The Town of Damascus has contracted with J Ross Conglomerate to conduct painting and staining on structures at Laurel Creek Park and the Town Park. The contractors will begin pressure washing on Wednesday, August 7. Painting and staining is expected to be completed by August 30. Please respect any barricades and posted signs and keep off of wet paint/stain.
Update: The painting of the Town Park Gazebo is expected to begin on August 15th. Staining of the structures at Laurel Creek Park is scheduled for the week of August 19th.

NOTICE: GATHERING - AUGUST 8, 2024
The Town of Damascus Elected and Appointed Officials will attend a gathering on Thursday, August 8, 2024, 5pm, at the 115 Smith St. This gathering is a celebration to thank Gavin N. Blevins for his years of service to the Town of Damascus and to welcome Chris Bell to his new role as Town Manager. Mayor Lamb will be serving burgers, dogs, chips, and drinks. The public is welcome to attend.

Public Input Session Notice - november 14, 2024
NOTICE:
A Public Input Session will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Thursday, November 14th, 2024, at the Temporary Damascus Town Hall (786 N Beaver Dam Avenue, Damascus, Virginia) related to the town applying for a planning grant from the Department of Housing and Community Development for up to $100,000 to complete preliminary engineering reports on infrastructure needs town-wide. The Input Session will be followed by a Management Team Meeting for the urgent infrastructure needs to be related to hurricane Helene recovery.
A Public Input Session will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Thursday, November 14th, 2024, at the Temporary Damascus Town Hall (786 N Beaver Dam Avenue, Damascus, Virginia) related to the town applying for a planning grant from the Department of Housing and Community Development for up to $100,000 to complete preliminary engineering reports on infrastructure needs town-wide. The Input Session will be followed by a Management Team Meeting for the urgent infrastructure needs to be related to hurricane Helene recovery.

Shady Avenue, Damascus, VA) regarding a proposed amendment to Chapter 50 Article 6 Section 50-182 regarding Virginia Creeper Trail Use Regulations to allow electrically powered wheelchairs and electric power-assisted bicycles upon the trail.
