Damascus has built quite a reputation for offering can’t-miss events that draw a large crowd, including the Appalachian Trail Days Festival in May and the Independence Day Celebration in July. These two events bring an estimated 25,000 and 10,000 visitors, respectively, to the small trail town of 700 residents.
